Vertical 02

Metals & Mining

Ventra sources base metals, ores, concentrates and mining supply against defined buyer requirements, from copper and aluminium to iron ore, and connects producers, traders, refiners and industrial buyers under documented terms.

Metals & Mining

Verified sourcing of copper, aluminium, iron ore and mining supply

Ventra sources base metals, ores and concentrates against defined buyer requirements: copper cathodes and concentrate, aluminium ingots and billets, iron ore and ferrous raw materials, zinc, nickel, manganese, chrome and ferroalloys, alongside mining equipment and technical supply.

This is the sector where unverifiable offers are most common. Ventra will only present a counterparty once title, provenance, licensing, assay documentation and authority to transact have been reviewed, and we work alongside licensed professionals wherever local regulation requires it.

The market

Why this vertical works the way it does.

This vertical carries the highest counterparty risk of anything Ventra touches, and it is treated accordingly. Most approaches in the market fail basic scrutiny: undocumented origin, unverifiable authority, informal structures and intermediaries with no mandate.

Ventra engages only with documented entities, licensed operators and refinery-linked relationships. Beneficial ownership, chain of custody, sanctions exposure, responsible sourcing standards and export documentation are assessed before any discussion advances.

Disclosure is staged and evidence-led. Anonymous counterparties and informal transaction structures fall outside our scope entirely, without exception.

How we work here

Origination discipline applied to this market.

01

Specification first

Metal, grade, assay, tonnage, packing, incoterms, delivery window and destination are documented before any counterparty is approached.

02

Documented counterparties

Engagement is limited to documented producers, refiners, smelters, licensed traders and end buyers able to evidence authority and title.

03

Enhanced screening

Beneficial ownership, chain of custody, sanctions exposure, export approvals and responsible sourcing standards are assessed before any introduction.

Enhanced

verification applied to every counterparty in this vertical

0 tolerance

What this changes for you

The commercial effect of working through Ventra.

Indicative figures drawn from how requirements in metals & mining typically progress. They describe the working method, not a guarantee of outcome.

Enhanced

verification on every counterparty

Title, assay arrangements, export approvals and sanctions exposure are reviewed before a producer, trader or refiner reaches the client.

Spot or term

structures both supported

A mandate can cover a single cargo or a recurring tonnage programme, depending on how the buyer wants to contract.

0

anonymous offers presented

Undocumented origin and intermediaries without a mandate are filtered out before they consume client time.

Credibility

Why a Ventra introduction carries weight.

Title, assay and inspection arrangements, export approvals, sanctions exposure and producer or refiner credentials are reviewed before any introduction. In a market crowded with undocumented offers, a Ventra connection confirms the counterparty has passed a structured legitimacy test.

Counterparties on both sides of a mandate are reviewed for authority, documentation and genuine commercial intent before any contact is exchanged. That verification is what turns an enquiry into a conversation worth having.

Engagement

How a mandate progresses in this vertical.

01

Eligibility screening

Counterparties must evidence documented status, authority and provenance before any discussion proceeds.

02

Enhanced due diligence

Beneficial ownership, chain of custody, sanctions exposure and responsible sourcing standards are assessed.

03

Structured disclosure

Information is released in defined stages, with documentation required at each step.

04

Introduction

Only fully documented counterparties are introduced, and only to matched institutional parties.

What a client receives

Common questions

Before you engage.

Do you work with anonymous sellers?

No. Undocumented origin, anonymous counterparties and informal structures fall outside Ventra's scope.

What standards apply?

Applicable AML and KYC requirements, responsible sourcing standards and export documentation rules.

Selected engagements

Anonymised examples from this vertical.

Counterparties, locations and commercial details are withheld. These examples show the working method: define the requirement, map the counterparties, verify authority and introduce principals directly.

Refinery-side documented supply relationship

Brief

A refinery-linked counterparty sought documented, compliant supply relationships after repeated approaches that failed basic verification.

Engagement model

Verification-first mandate. Enhanced due diligence applied before any introduction is considered.

Outcome

One counterparty cleared full verification and was introduced. All others were declined and closed at screening stage.

Technical supply for an operating mine site

Brief

An operating mining company required equipment and technical suppliers able to service a remote site under defined uptime commitments.

Engagement model

Capability mandate. Operator verification, supplier capacity testing, direct introduction.

Outcome

Three suppliers were introduced for technical and commercial evaluation by the site's engineering team.

Typical requirements

The shape of a mandate in this vertical.

01

“We require copper cathodes to LME grade A at recurring monthly tonnage.”

02

“We require aluminium billets or ingots to this alloy specification and delivery schedule.”

03

“We require iron ore of this Fe content, delivered to this port on term contract.”

Scope & standards

Enhanced due diligence applies to all metals, ores and mining related engagements.

Considerations include beneficial ownership, source and provenance, chain of custody, assay and inspection standards, export and import documentation, sanctions screening, responsible sourcing, counterparty verification, refinery and smelter credentials and applicable AML and KYC requirements.

Surplus & overstock

The other side of metals & mining.

Not every requirement in this vertical is new production. Ventra also places unused, overstocked and idle inventory: cancelled orders, discontinued lines, ex project equipment, spares held in warehouses and other bulk goods where demand and quality exist. Holders recover capital and remove storage and handling cost. Buyers secure volume that is already produced, already inspected and available now. Ownership, condition and documentation are verified before any lot is presented.
